I didn’t even know there WAS a king of pizza. I certainly would have liked to at least seen the job posting or something. I mean surely there was a worldwide search for this nobility, yes?
Pizza King is this little, out-of-the-way, mom-n-pop pizza joint in midtown Irving.
“KING” obviously refers to them being the king of the pizza offers. Case in point– they have a daily special – any day all day- cheese or pepperoni pizza – five bucks. None of this 5.55 or 5.99 crap… five bucks (with tax it’s what…5.42?). That is the cheapest large pizza in town. In fact I don’t even think they make any other size other than large. These guys are going for value here.
From what I have seen, this place is the go-to move for some party pizza action or looking to feed those hungry co-workers as I noticed several customers leaving with stacks of pies.
The pie itself is pretty good. Lots of toppings, nice and bright tomato flavor in the sauce…. and they are pretty liberal with the cheese. The crust is almost like a flatbread…very crisp and crunchy. It might be the flattest and thinnest pizza crust I have ever seen or had in my life.
So if you are in the area and looking to feed an army – I vote for the Pizza King. He does good pies at an unbeatable price.
